Earth! Stomach! Sweet Fruits! Stillness! Tensegrity!

Late Summer practice supports the “still” space, hanging like ripe fruit between the dramatic cycles of growth (spring), active abundance (summer)
and the cool, inward reflection available in the metals of autumn and the waters of winter. Associated with the stomach, spleen, pancreas, muscles, and mouth,
this is a period for checking in with our fuel-to-destination narrative: How much do we need to get to where we are going?
No one wants to fill up the car just to drive around and run out of gas. So, how much do we really need to have a joy ride?

Physical practices for this time should replenish, tonify, nourish and regulate through movement — augmenting stability through reliable mobility.

LATE SUMMER PRACTICE — Breathwork: Till The Soil
On your back, place your hands comfortably on your torso.
Feel the wonderful weight of your body lying down — connected to the earth, stable, and pulsing with quiet aliveness.
First, fill your lower belly, imagining the abundance of a bubble bath spilling over the lip of the tub.
Next, inflate the rib cage, and feel the warm wave of breath travel all the way up to your collar bones, even the narrows of your throat.
Exhale from the top down, feeling your navel pull slightly in and back towards your spine at the bottom of the exhalation.

Inhalation and exhalation are both done through the nose. Try opening the mouth and whispering “Ahhh” with the inhalation and “Haaa” with the exhalation.

Then, close the mouth and continue to breathe through the nose with the same constriction in the throat like you were yawning through the nose.
As the throat passage is narrowed, so, too, is the airway, the passage of air through which a “rushing” sound emerges.
The length and speed of the breath is controlled by the diaphragm, the crown of the digestive organs and the throne of the lungs.
Feel air and prana dancing between your Aboveness and your Belowness.

Inhalations and exhalations are equal in measure and need not cause an iota of distress. Take a rhythm that is sustainable and comfortable.

Other practices include: Active Spinal Twists series, Bellows Breath, Mugwort Infusions, Dandelion Root Decoction, Tongue Scraping,
Moon Gazing, Diaphragmatic Care, and Abdominal Massage.
