Katonah Yoga® for the Magical Abode of the Self
A 30 Hour Teacher Training Intensive
This weekend is part of a deep dive into Katonah Yoga® asana, pranayama and theory, the first of its kind in Europe. Over the course of four months, participants will have the opportunity to hear and embody Katonah theory from five different teachers. Designed to integrate with layered complexity, the training will consist of several different modules:
January: Thursday 23rd - Sunday 26th, 2020 DAGES JUVELIER KEATES
February: Thursday 27th to March Sunday 1st, 2020 DAVID REGELIN
March: Thursday 19th to Sunday 22nd, 2020 ANDREA SUTTER
Possible Guest: Nevine Michaan (founder of Katonah Yoga)
One’s body is not a project or a problem, it is the place each of us is always and already living from. Embodied practice can turn us toward that reality and away from tendencies to dissociate. To live in each of our changing, growing, yearning, dying, aging bodies is to be in touch with what is profoundly human. Practice is not to degrade oneself or aggrandize oneself, but to find the complexity of life as it is on a human scale.
This intensive will deepen your understanding of Katonah Yoga’s central metaphors and practices. Your body is your house, your personal abode; you want to know how to have a party and clean it up!
Asana is origami for bodies.Through vigorous practice, we will break down the angles and measures of Katonah classics: dogs, hangs, squares, lunges, squats and pigeons. Learn how to use archetypes, the magic square, and formulas for cross referencing to amplify the currency of your asana practice.
Pranayama techniques are recipes for joy. Learn Katonah tools that enable one to be alone with oneself, plumb one’s depths, get whipped up, embody ecstasy, re-orient, and find joy. Sessions will include lecture, demonstration, and plenty of hands-on, attuned adjustments.
If you have had a taste of Katonah’s singular material and want a broader understanding of theory and practice, this experience is for you.
We will cover:
Maps and Materials: Katonah Yoga’s charts and glyphs, including the Magic Square and Wraps for Rapture
Principles and Geometry of alignment in yoga poses, archetypes of numbers
Hands-on Adjustments, modifications for injuries, elders / sensitive students
Working with newbies, injuries, older students and those with limited mobility
Body readings/diagnostics for informing personal practice
Breakdown of frequently used poses and techniques along with their adjustments/modifications
Working with props: straps, blocks, chairs, poles, sandbags and their substitutes

“This woman seriously knows her sh*t (Katonah Yoga)! But the real magic lies in how Dages expresses the material, so imaginative and thoughtful that you can’t help but let it absorb into your bones.”
“Dages is a master of both Katonah material and teaching in general. I felt like I received 15 hours of personal therapeutic attention from both Dages and my fellow students - all so eager learn the material and practice on each other. What a truly magical and enlightening weekend. More, please!”
“This training was informative, evocative, and transformative. The manual is an incredible compilation of maps, theory, images, and practical guidance that I will continue to reference. Dages's unparalleled energy brings together a remarkable group of individuals. As we moved through the intricacies of guiding and experiencing the therapeutic work of the private, Dages skillfully held space, assisted everyone, and kept good humor running throughout. She is knowledgeable and witty; her passion for this material is invigorating. By the end of the weekend, I felt grounded in community, and excited to make use of the information absorbed throughout the weekend. So grateful!”
“This training exceeded my expectations on so many levels. The wealth of knowledge and passion that Dages has for this practice is undeniable. This training will expand not only your teaching, but the lens in which you see the world."
“Nevine had recommended I seek out Dages and take her workshops and classes. I am so grateful that I had listened to Nevine. After the training, I feel a stronger sense of understanding to the Katonah philosophy in my mind, my body, my practice and my teachings. Everyone has their own way of teaching and translating, I’m so appreciative to Dages for sharing her vast knowledge, personal philosophies and her presence. She has a gift for teaching and an ability to make some of the more complicated Katonah teachings accessible and approachable.”
